Spring commencement
Friday, May 9, 2008 7:30 p.m. in Student Center Gymnasium

Summer commencement
Friday, June 27, 2008 7:30 p.m. in Student Center Gymnasium

During registration for final semester of enrollment
  • Meet with faculty advisor, guidance counselor, or Registrar's Office to make sure graduation requirements will be met. Request Degree Audit.
  • Make application for graduation at Registrar's Office or at Red Oak or Osceola centers
  • Order cap and gown for commencement
  • Deadline to apply for graduation and order cap/gown:
    • Fall prospects - September 30
    • Spring prospects - February 9
    • Summer prospects - February 9 (if enrolled during spring semester) or May 18
  • Order gown when applying for graduation if planning to attend commencement

Mid-semester

  • Prospective graduate list will be emailed to students and faculty, posted on the Graduation link of SWCC's Web site, and posted on main Instructional center bulletin board (summer graduates will notified during summer session)

Last 4 weeks of final semester

  • Graduation announcements may be ordered through SWCC Bookstore
  • Complete Financial Aid Direct Loan Exit Counseling, if applicable, at www.dl.ed.gov or schedule an individual exit session
  • Complete resume and check out available jobs at Career Services if applicable
  • Complete COMPASS Post Test if applicable

Last 2 weeks of final semester

  • If you placed an order, you may pick up and pay for Graduation Announcements at Bookstore
  • Make sure your student account is paid in full
  • Return all books to the Library and pay any fines
  • Return all equipment or materials to proper department
  • Check out of college housing if applicable
  • Request final official transcripts from Registrar's Office
  • Fill out graduation survey in Registrar's Office
  • Provide Registrar's Office with correct permanent address

Commencement

  • Pick up cap and gown in Registrar's Office
  • Pick up honor regalia in Bookstore if applicable (Phi Theta Kappa members/honor graduates)
  • Attend commencement and reception

Follow-up

  • Registrar's Office finalizes grades and graduation status and applies degrees to transcripts.
  • Diplomas and degrees will be mailed to your permanent address following graduation (allow 2-3 weeks for delivery)
  • Order photographs when proofs arrive at your home address (if you wish)
  • Fill out Graduate Follow-up Placement Student Satisfaction Survey in November following graduation and return to Career Services
  • Keep in touch with the Alumni Office and your classmates online, by email, or call 800-247-4023 ext. 420 or 641-782-1420
