Drymon Resigns from SWCC
Feb 21, 2008 - Jerry Drymon has announced his resignation
effective the end of the year from Southwestern. Drymon has served
as Head Coach the past four seasons. Coach Drymon turned around a
struggling program and made them a winner. This season marks back
to back winning seasons which is the first time since 1999 and 2000.
He has coached several Dean List students and All Region performers.
Coach Drymon will be taking over the position Head Men's Basketball
Coach at Clarke College.
Coach had this to say about his time at Southwestern "I am thankful
for the opportunity that was given to me by Bill Taylor, Bill Krejci,
and Dr. Crittenden. They believed in my abilities to turn around a
program that had seen some hard times. I am thankful for all the kids
that I have gotten to coach here. Without them, we never could of
turned this program around. I want to thank all of our fans and the
community for the support they have given us. I will be forever thankful
for this opportunity. I know the groundwork has been laid for the
next coach to come in and have success."
Davis Named Player of the Week
Jan 25, 2008 - Anthony Davis was named Region XI player of the week
after leading SWCC to two victories. He scored 26 points, had 11 rebounds,
and 5 blocks against William Jewel JV. He followed that up with 27
points and 11 rebounds against regional rival Iowa Central. Anthony
has committed to play at South Dakota State next year. Congrats to
Anthony on a great week. (

Tyler Raasch Scores a Triple Double
Jan 25, 2008 - In Southwestern’s win last Monday over William
Jewel JV, freshman Tyler Raasch netted his first career triple double.
Tyler scored 14 points, had 12 assists, and 10 rebounds. Gathering
10 rebounds is a rare feet for a 6 foot guard. Tyler’s efforts
help lead the Spartans to victory.
Southwestern Receives National Ranking
Jan 2008 - In the first poll of the new year, the Southwestern Spartans
received their first national ranking since the 99-00 season. Southwestern
enters the national polls at #12. SWCC has earned the ranking by getting
off to an 8-2 start despite battling the injury bug. Please check
the schedule for an opportunity to come out and support your nationally
ranked Spartans.
Anthony Davis signs DI National Letter of
Intent
November 2007 - On the first day of the early signing
period, sophomore Anthony Davis signed a national letter of intent
to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings, South Dakota.
SDSU competes in the very competitive Summit league. Anthony becomes
the first Spartan to sign with a DI program since 1998. Anthony received
all tournament honors at the regional tournament last year as a freshman.
This current season he is averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds per game
in leading the Spartans to a 3-0 record.
Laurice Ellison named preseason All American
October 2007 - The NJCAA has announced
its preseason All American list and Laurice Ellison was named to the
third team. Laurice is a 6'9" sophomore from Hamlet, North Carolina.
He was named Honorable Mention All Region as a freshman after averaging
9 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks a game.
Laurice is currently being recruited by several NCAA
Division I and II schools. He is the second preseason All American
Coach Drymon has had. The first was Marques Williams. Southwestern
opens up on November 5th at 7 pm against William Penn JV.
