Spartans Come Up Short Against NIACC

The Southwestern Community College Women’s Basketball team came up short Saturday afternoon against NIACC by losing 62-56. The Spartans found themselves down 34-29 at half-time and could not get themselves over the hump in the second half. Tiffany Troutwine lead SWCC with 26 points and 6 steals. Kim Wolfer added to the attack with 10 points and 15 rebounds. The Spartans move to 1-4 in Region play and 4-12 overall.

The Spartans will host the 17-0 NJCAA DII #1 ranked Tritons of Iowa Central Community College Wednesday evening at 5:30 p.m.

Spartans Go 2-0 Over the Weekend

Dec 10, 2007 - The Southwestern Community College Women’s Basketball Team picked up to wins over the weekend while beating AIB 65-48 and Graceland University JV’s 79-49.

Against AIB, the Spartans were led in scoring by Anna Waymaster with 15 points and Tiffany Troutwine with 11. Cortni Livengood added to the attack with 12 rebounds.

The Spartans had five players in double figures to lead the team to a 79-49 victory over Graceland University JV’s. CeCe Wright led with 22 points and 10 assists, Tiffany Troutwine and Kim Wolfer each had 16 points, Anna Waymaster with 12 points and Nicole Meyer added 10.

The SWCC Women’s Basketball Team moves to 1-1 in regional play and 4-6 overall as they host SCC-Beatrice Saturday December 15th at 6:00 p.m. in Creston to wrap up play for the first half of the season.

SWCC Goes 0-2 in Best Western Classic

Nov 24, 2007 - Southwestern Community College went 0-2 over the weekend at the Best Western Classic in Marshalltown, IA. Friday afternoon the Spartans lost to Kishwaukee CC 65-67 in overtime. The Spartans found themselves playing from behind the entire game until they took the lead 48-47 with four minutes left in regulation. Kishwaukee regained the lead and was up by five with 1:15 left in regulation. A pair of free-throws with 3 seconds left on the clock from Anna Waymaster tied the game 57-57 to round up regulation. In overtime, Kishwaukee came out to a quick lead and SWCC found themselves down 67-65 to end the game. The Spartans had 4 players in double figures with Kim Wolfer and Nicole Meyer each having 10, while Shelby Wright lead with 14 and Anna Waymaster added 13.

Saturday, SWCC lost 55-74 to Sauk Valley CC. The Skyhawks took control of the game early and the Spartans could not gain control. The Spartans were lead in scoring with Tiffany Troutwine having 18 and CeCe Wright adding 17.

Tuesday, November 27th the Spartans will travel to Council Bluffs, IA to take on the NJCAA Division 1 Reivers of Iowa Western Community College at 6:00 p.m.

SWCC Holds off Lady Statesmen to Move to 2-1

Nov 16, 2007 - The Southwestern Community College Women’s Basketball Team battled hard Friday night to beat William Penn JV’s 74-67. The Spartans were forced to 14 turnovers at the half-way mark and found themselves up 36-32. The Lady Statesmen came out to take the lead early in the second half but could not overcome a 12-1 run by the Spartans to get back the lead.

The Spartans went 16 of 18 from the charity stripe in the second half to assist in holding off the Lady Statesmen. The Spartans ended the game with 4 players in double figures. Tiffany Troutwine with 21 points, CeCe Wright with 18, and Kim Wolfer with 12. Nicole Meyer added to the attack with her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The SWCC Women’s Basketball Team hosts Simpson College JV’s Monday night at 7:00 in Creston.

SWCC Women’s Basketball Improves to 1-1

Nov 14, 2007 - The Spartans improved to 1-1 on the season with a 73-55 win over Graceland University J.V. Wednesday night. SWCC came out to a slow start finding themselves down 38-34 at the half-way mark. The Spartans came out the second half and really turned it up by taking control of the game with a 12-0 run to gain momentum which carried them until the final buzzer.

The Spartans were led by Kim Wolfer with 30 points and 9 rebounds on the evening, while Tiffany Troutwine had her first career triple-double with 16 points, 11 assists, and 17 steals. Cortni Livengood also helped out on the glass with 10 rebounds.

The SWCC Women’s Basketball team hosts William Penn J.V. this Friday at 7:00 p.m.
