Jeff Magneson

Instructor of Intro. to Collision Repair, Non-Structural Repair, Sheet Metal Repair, Plastic Repairs, Estimating, Special Procedures, Structural Repairs I & II, Collision Lab I & II, and all Refinishing Courses. He is also the student advisor. Jeff graduated from the Auto Body program here at Southwestern with honors in 1980. The next 16 years Jeff worked in Red Oak as a combination painter and collision repair technician.

The past 13 years he was a hands-on manager in a dealership body shop with 5 employees. Recognized for his quality workmanship and attention to detail he is well known in Southwest Iowa. An ASE Master Certified Technician in Refinishing, Non-Structural Repairs, Structural Damage Analysis, Mechanical and Electrical Repairs as well as Estimating testing, Jeff enjoys presenting the new advancements in technology of paints and materials, tools and equipment, and I-CAR approved techniques in collision repair.

Since taking over the program in the Fall of 1996, being fresh from the collision repair industry has given Jeff the inside edge to the latest technology needed to train students to become ASE certified and in demand for today's collision repair employees.

The Collision Repair Technology program has undergone major, aggressive changes to offer the student the latest curriculum by Enhanced Delivery and the newest equipment in welding, unibody repair, spraying and paint baking, paint intermix systems, computerized estimating, and electronic color analysis. Jeff provides a strong emphasis on fundamentals, quality, cleanliness and attention to details. Representatives from the industry play an integral role in our structural and organized approach to teaching collision repair on today's high-tech automobiles.

Our new job shadowing program has provided many employment opportunities as well as expanding the students knowledge on shop operations.

Our Collision Repair Lab allows our students a "live lab" that allows students to experience the realism of working in a collision repair shop. By working on actual collision damaged late model cars is the best approach to apply theory and techniques according to Jeff.

Jeff is still active in collision repair and stays in close contact with shops in Southwest Iowa. He has attended training from DuPont Automotive Paints, BASF Paints, Chrysler Corp., Bear Alignment, Mitchell Estimating, 3M, and Chief Automotive Systems.
