Head Coach Bill
Huntington
I'd like to share
with you a short history on myself. My name is Bill Huntington and
I've been fortunate to be named the Head Cross Country Coach for
both programs at SWCC.
For the last 9 years I've been the Head Cross
Country Coach at Orient-Macksburg High School in Orient, Iowa. In
that time we have won 6 conference championships, 40 invitational
championships, 1 district championship and have been the district
runner-up 4 times. Our teams have qualified for the state
championships 5 times and placed very well at each meet.
The track teams have enjoyed great success as well
winning 10 invitational championships, 2 conference championships
and 1 district championship. In 2004 we qualified 13 events for the
state meet without having a track to practice on. Individually we
have had multiple state qualifiers and place winners in cross
country and track and field. I have a passion for the sport of
running and I am very excited about the upcoming season.
We will be running a full schedule this fall
against colleges from Iowa and other neighboring states. Thus
creating the type of exposure that will only enhance our athletes
reputations among Division I, II and III colleges across the
midwest. Our facilities here are fantastic. For practice we have a
50 acre campus that borders a golf course that we have permission
to run on. On top of that we have a state park a little over a mile
from campus that has a 500 acre lake and multiple running trails.
We also have access to an olympic size pool and indoor running
track that are located right next to the new student housing
currently under construction.
Assistant Coach Cari Stalker
Cari (Hoeman)
Stalker is a graduate of Valley high school in West Des Moines. As
a high school athlete, Cari has won 8 state titles, including the
400 meter dash, all 4 years, and the 200 as a sophomore, and she
anchored the 4X400 to 3 titles. She also has 3 Drake Relay’s
championships, anchoring both, the Sprint Medley, and 4X400. Cari
was also a state qualifier in Cross Country.
After high school, Cari went on to run Track and
Cross Country on a scholarship at the University of Iowa.
After college, Cari went on to coach soccer at
Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, and Track at Creston High
School.
In 2005 Cari was inducted into the Iowa Girls High
School Hall of Fame; she was the first girl to ever win the 400
meters 4 years in a row.
