Luis had a stellar career at Sydney High School, in Sydney Iowa where he was a state qualifier in track and field. He ended his high school career by finishing 9th, in the 3200m at the state championships.Luis also placed at the Lamb-KoHawk Invitational and he was selected to the Region XI Honorable Mention Team.
