10 Steps To Registering For
An Online Class At Southwestern
NOTE: Registration dates for online
classes are different
than those for face-to-face classes.
- View
available classes. There are over 250 classes to choose from.
Check out the syllabus for each class to get more information. (Be
sure to choose a term.)
- Apply
Online for Admission to Southwestern (applying is free).
- Call Southwestern (800-247-4023 Ext. 421) to register for classes.
Let us know what class or classes you are interested in. If this

- Check your e-mail for important class information. It is important
for you to be aware of the e-mail account in the SWCC online system.
This is how instructors and administrators will be communicating
with you.
You will receive an email confirmation of your online enrollment
the moment you are registered for class. If you do not receive a
confirmation within 24 hours, please notify the Director of Distance
Learning at greene@swcciowa.edu.
- Order your books by phone (800-247-4023 Ext. 430) or you may reserve
your textbooks online.
Keep in mind, due to the large number of online classes, the Bookstore
may need to order books for you and this can take a few days. Be
sure to order early.
- Login to your online class and take the online tutorial. (Your
online class will not show up until the start date for the term.)
It is also highly recommended that you take the online
orientation. If you need extra help, come in for a face-to-face
orientation. Call the Distance Learning office at 800-247-4023 Ext.
524 to set up a time.
- Familiarize yourself with Smarthinking
- our online tutoring service.
- Check out the ICCOC
Student Service Center.
- Go to class when the
term begins.
