Grants

Grants are financial aid that does not have to be repaid. In order to apply for federal or state grants, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA deadline for state aid for Iowa residents is July 1.

Federal grants that are available for eligible students at Southwestern:

  • Pell Grant
  • Academic Competitiveness Grant
  • Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant

For specific information about these programs, go to the Department of Education’s website www.studentaid.ed.gov and look for the section titled “Funding Your Education" under "Applying for Financial Aid".
