Another popular free antivirus program.

Trend Micro HouseCall

Trend Micro HouseCall is free online tool for checking whether your computer has been infected by viruses, spyware, or other malware. HouseCall performs additional security checks to identify and fix vulnerabilities to prevent reinfection.

Hosts File

A hosts file can be installed on your computer to help control annoying banner ads and pop-ups. It can also be used to prohibit your computer from accessing dangerous Web sites. (The information on this page is technical and targeted at advanced computer users)

A free productivity suite that is similar to Microsoft Office. The newest version of Open Office allows you to open and save documents in the new XML format that Microsoft Office 2007 uses.

A resource for freeware, shareware, and trial offer downloads. Download.com ensures that all downloads from its site are virus free.

Microsoft Updates

Its a good idea to make sure your PC has the latest Microsoft Updates installed. These updates fix security problems and can sometimes solve some common bugs and glitches that may occur with your computer.
