A flag dedication presentation was held on Monday, Sept. 26, in the Student Center gymnasium, prior to the 7 p.m. volleyball match vs Marshalltown Community College, to recognize the South Central Iowa Community Foundation (SCICF) for their gift of a 18’ motorized American flag and flag box to the college.
SCICF board members (shown left to right in green shirts in photo above) Mary Seales, Don Sheridan, and Barb Stephens were in attendance for the event. Sheridan spoke to the crowd on behalf of the foundation. Dr. Barb Crittenden (shown third from left in photo above), SWCC president, thanked the foundation board members on behalf of the college. Following Crittenden’s comments, the flag, which has been mounted to the ceiling at the west end of the gym, was lowered for the National Anthem.
The mission of the SCICF is to contribute to a better life for people of South Central Iowa by helping donors carry out their charitable intent and by providing responsible stewardship of gifts for community purposes. In addition to the college, the SCICF gifted flags to many local school districts throughout their region.
