CateyaPhipps StudentSenateFor the third year in a row, Southwestern Community College's Student Senate has adopted a family for the holidays through the Rural Iowa Crisis Center.  The group's donation of gifts and food were delivered to the Rural Iowa Crisis Center on Mon., December 17.  The donation for the group's adopted family was worth more than $200. 

The Rural Iowa Crisis Center provides safety and support services to victims and survivors of domestic and sexual violence in Adams, Ringgold, Taylor and Union counties in southwest Iowa.

UglySweaterWinners 2012

The 2012 SWCC Ugly Sweater Contest was held Thurs., December 13, at noon in the Student Center.  There was a three-way tie for first place.  Shown above are contest winners (L to R) Megan Doubleday, John Doyle, and Tracy Kelley.  For more photos from the Ugly Sweater Contest visit SWCC's Facebook page.  Thanks to everyone who participated!

ChamberSingers 2012

The Southwestern Community College Chamber Singers will perform Holiday Carols in Concert this Sunday, December 9, 2012, at 7:30 p.m. in the SWCC Performing Arts Center theater. Cost of admission is $10 a person and $5 for students and seniors.

The repertoire will include works by Mendelssohn, Rachmaninoff, Christiansen, Shaw, Burt, and Mattson. It will be directed by conductor Ryan Howe, SWCC professional music instructor.

SWCC students and faculty are hosting SWCC's first-ever Fall Poster Day, on Thursday, December 6, from noon-1 p.m. in room 180 of the Instructional Center.  During Poster Day, SWCC students will be sharing research projects they have been working on during the fall 2012 semester.  Topics will range from psychology to biology to environmental issues.  Posters will be on display and the presenters will be available for questions during this hour-long event.
