Southwestern Community College and Northwest Missouri State University Sign Joint Enrollment Agreement
CRESTON —Southwestern Community College (SWCC) President Dr. Barb Crittenden and Northwest Missouri State University (NWMSU) Provost Dr. Kichoon Yang met to sign an articulation and joint enrollment agreement on March 31, 2009, at Southwestern. This agreement will create significant new academic opportunities for Southwestern grads seeking to earn a bachelor’s degree.
The agreement includes provisions for reverse transfer and joint admission and provides framework to develop programs designed to enhance the educational experience of students attending both schools.
Dr. Crittenden expressed her support for the document stating Southwestern wants to offer students the best educational experience possible and emphasized that placing importance on transfer of credit to senior institutions is one way to assure a positive educational experience.
Dr. Yang is hoping to see the numbers of SWCC graduates attending Northwest increase in the coming years due to acceptance of the agreement.
Two Southwestern students who are planning to attend Northwest in the fall were on-hand for the event: Amanda Herzberg of Braddyville, who is majoring in graphic design, and Aric Bishop of Creston, who is majoring in history and journalism.
