PIF (Pay It Forward) Week April 20-24

SWCC Social Psychology ClassAPRIL 2009--As of Tuesday, April 21, more than 700 PIF bracelets have been distributed!

Plan to get involved . . . SWCC Psychology Instructor Kate Burrell and her social psychology class are planning to create a chain of giving starting April 20. “I P.I.F., and It’s Contagious,” as they're calling it, will run April 20-24.  The class is hoping a series of good deeds will come in response to their efforts.

The students in the class will start the chain of giving by doing something nice or helpful for another student, faculty, or staff member.  Once they have completed a good deed, they will pass a P.I.F. wristband on to another person.  The wristband can then be given to any student, faculty, or staff, in hopes they will continue the chain.

All participants are asked to encourage others to pass it forward and let the class know how they did so by sharing their story on the SWCC Facebook group page.  They may also choose to drop a written note in the P.I.F. box located in the library, or e-mail Burrell directly at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  SWCC instructors and staff members are encouraged to organize groups to complete P.I.F. activities throughout the week as well.

Students from the social psychology class will set up a booth in the main hallway of the instructional center each day the week of April 20-24 from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. At the booth, individuals may get additional bracelets and share their experiences.  The goal for the project is to get more than 200 SWCC students, staff, and faculty doing good deeds for others for the week.
