SWCC Drafting Program Assisting Corning High School

SWCC and Corning partnering through drafting softwareCreston, IA—Corning High School Industrial Arts Instructor Tracy King recently visited Southwestern Community College’s Creston campus to receive five computers and the SDS/2 program software to implement steel detailing into the high school’s drafting curriculum.

The SDS/2 software was donated by Design Data, a company that produces innovative software for the steel industry’s fabrication, detailing and engineering sectors.  SWCC works closely with Design Data and has graduates working for the company, which is headquartered in Lincoln, NE.

Al Binning, SWCC drafting instructor, is excited about partnering with Corning High School on this venture and feels it could assist students in determining their career fields.

“I am anxious to assist Corning High School as they begin to utilize the SDS/2 software,” states Binning.  “It’s a great thing to educate students about the steel detailing field at an earlier age.”
