The Spartans improve to 3-3 on the season after defeating the Warriors of Little Priest Tribal College on the road 70-61 in Winnebago, NE.

Despite a slow start and being down early on the Spartans we able to tie the game 15-15 to end the first quarter. After taking the lead early in the second quarter the Spartans never looked back.

Men's Basketball

The men’s basketball game vs. Graceland University on Wed., November 25, at 5:05 p.m., in the Student Center gymnasium, will be a thank you to fans as their Thanks(by)giving game.  Admission will be free!

Sparty being introduced

The Elk’s Lodge in Creston was full of college supporters for the SWCC athletic department’s annual Athletic Fundraiser held last Fri., November 13, starting at 6 p.m.  The event raised approximately $16,000 for the athletic scholarship fund.

The Spartans traveled to Des Moines, Iowa to compete in their third game in four days seeking to go 2-3 overall on the season as they took on Grand View JV the night after defeating Simpson JV at home.

On Monday, November 16, the Spartans women’s basketball team was back in action at home against the Storm of Simpson College JV to play the second of a three game stretch in four days.

The Spartans jumped out to an early 16-5 lead over the Storm after the first quarter and they continued to dominate the second quarter going into the half with a 38-23 lead.

The Southwestern Spartan Cross Country team concluded their 2015 season on Saturday, November 14 at the NJCAA National Championship meet held in Fort Dodge, Iowa at Lakeside Municipal Golf Course. The Spartan men finished 32nd out of 39 full teams, while improving their placing from the Region XI meet, as they finished fifth out of the six Region XI teams present at the championship. Freshman Inia Sili (Suva,Fiji) led the men with his 29:06 over the 8,000m course. Sophomore Chasen Selsor (Osceola) was the second Spartan across the finish line with a season’s best time of 29:31. Gabe Esser, Nate Hoyt, and Gerardus Boelen completed the scoring for Southwestern.

The Spartans took to the road to take on the Greyhounds of Fort Scott Community College to start a tough stretch of three games in four days.

The Greyhounds got off to a great start and after a few early lead changes in the first quarter they were able to maintain control through the entire game. The Spartans were down 18 points at the half and the struggle continued in the second half, finishing the game down 30, losing to the Greyhounds 57-87.

SWCC vs. Grand View JV

The Spartans hosted the Grandview Vikings in their home opener hoping to bounce back from the season opener loss to the University of St Mary. The Spartans played a solid first half but were down 37-35 at the break. The start of the second half did not start well as the Spartans went on a nearly six minute scoring drought that allowed the Vikings to gain a 13 point lead going into the fourth quarter.
