Congratulations to Chuck Hulett of Creston for winning the Ithica side-by-side 28 gauge shotgun given in this year’s Southwestern Community College sports shooting raffle, drawn for at the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance banquet on Thurs., October 13, at Three Mile Lodge in Afton.

Each year, the sports shooting program has a raffle fundraiser.  This year, 250 tickets were sold for the drawing.  The raffle profits are split with MidwayUSA Foundation, who donates the gun.  Midway then provides incentives by donating extra funds if all raffle tickets are sold.  This raffle fundraiser raised approximately $7,500 for the sports shooting team.

SWCC Volleyball vs ICCC

The Spartans played at home Wednesday night for their third of four matches this week.  Iowa Central Community College came to town to battle in the conference matchup.  The Tritons came into the match with a 19-12 record; 6-3 in conference play.  The match ended in four games in favor of the Tritons.

An early deficit put the Spartans in a hole they could not climb out of in the first set.  The Tritons carried the lead to the end of the set.   The second match was back-and-forth in which the Spartans used their blocking to carry them to the front.  With Southwestern’s late run, the set finished 25-21.  The next two sets belonged to the Tritons as they gained an early advantage in both of the games.
