Shelby Woods, an accomplished sports shooter from Madison, MO, has committed to the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) sports shooting program for the 2014-15 academic year.
During high school, Woods was a member of the Madison FFA Trapshooting Team. She has received a number of FFA shooting honors including the 2010 Top Marksman Award for her shooting team; 2010 high overall score for the Area IV FFA Trapshooting Tournament; 2010-2014 high female in the FFA Trapshooting Tournament in Paris, MO; 2011 FFA Tournament, second place, lady’s high individual; 2011 FFA Tournament in Elsberry MO, first place, individual; 2012 FFA Tournament in Silex, MO, second place, lady individual; 2013 Tournament in Silex, MO, first place lady and first place high overall individual; and 2013 Tournament in Elsberry, MO, first place lady.
In addition to her FFA honors, Woods has received a number of Amateur Trapshooting Association Awards including the 2011 Sedalia, MO, Central Zone Handicap Sub Jr Champion; 2012 Missouri State Shoot, Directors Handicap Sub Jr Champion; 2012 Missouri State Shoot, Handicap Sub Jr Runner-Up; 2012 Kansas City, MO, Spring Youth Tournament, lady champion; 2013 Lancaster, MO, Central Zone lady singles champion; and the 2013 Quincy, IL, Indian Singles lady champion.
Charlie Mundy, SWCC head sports shooting coach, is very excited about what Woods will bring to SWCC’s sports shooting program. “Shelby is a great student and a high caliber shooting athlete,” Mundy explained. “I look for Shelby to push our team to a higher level at competition. She comes with a lot of experience and will be a good fit for our team.”
Woods will be a May 2014 graduate of Madison C-3 High School in Madison, MO. She plans to major in auto collision repair/refinish at Southwestern. She is the daughter of Tina and Marty Woods of Madison, MO.
