Sports shooting team at nationals

Southwestern Community College's sports shooting team came home with a top-three finish from the 2017 ACUI Collegiate Clay Target Championships, March 28-April 2, at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, TX.

Southwestern placed third in the nation, Division 4 category, in 5 Stand.  The top five scores are taken for each team for team standings.  Southwestern's top five finishers were Justin O’Grady, Hunter Anderson, Clayton Dale, Blade Smith, and Treavor Elwood.  According to Spartan Head Coach Marc Roberg, it was the first time any of these individuals had shot 5 stand.

Winterset High School’s Dalton Smith has committed to the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) sports shooting program for the 2017-18 year.

During high school, Smith participated in the 4-H Sharpshooters Club and on the Winterset High School trap team. Smith will graduate high school in May.

Dillon Glenn, of Bethany, MO, is the newest member of Southwestern Community College’s (SWCC) sports shooting program.

Glenn will graduate from South Harrison High School in Bethany, MO, in May 2017. He is an avid outdoorsman and competes in muzzle and trap, as well as archery.

Kyle Redinbaugh, a senior at Atlantic High School, has committed to the Southwestern Community College sports shooting team for the 2017-18 academic year.

Last week, the Spartans sports shooting team traveled to Marengo, OH, to compete in the 2016 Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP) College National Championships on October 28-30. The SWCC team joined 22 other teams from around the country to compete in the trap and skeet programs. The Spartans finished the tournament in 11th place overall in trap and 15th overall in skeet.
