Ashley Porter and Hannah Ryan sign with Spartan Volleyball

Ashley Porter and Hannah Ryan, of Davis, IL, have signed National Letters of Intent to continue their volleyball careers at Southwestern Community College.

Stoaks Signs with the Spartans

Jacy Stoaks, a senior at Lenox High School, signed last week with the Southwestern Community College softball and volleyball programs.  She will become a Spartan with the fall 2017 semester.  Stoaks plans to earn her Associate of Arts degree at Southwestern with a major in athletic training.  She is the daughter of Mandy and Kurt Stoaks of Lenox.

The season ended Wednesday night in Fort Dodge for the Spartan volleyball squad.  The Spartans entered the conference tournament as the seventh seed, drawing Iowa Central for the first round.  The Tritons beat the Spartans two weeks ago in Creston in four sets.  Iowa Central only needed three this time to take the Spartans out of the tournament.

The Spartans traveled to Lexington, MO, on Friday night to participate in a triangular against Labette Community College and Wentworth Military Academy & College.  Southwestern played Labette earlier this season, and were defeated in three sets.  This time the Spartans would get the best of Labette, taking them down in five sets.

Southwestern volleyball needed a win at NIACC Wednesday for a birth in the conference tournament.  The Trojans entered the match looking for a win to edge out Iowa Lakes Community College in the conference tournament seeding.  The Spartans were able to pull off the upset, taking down the Trojans in five close sets.
