The Spartan women started well, opening up an early double digit lead against North Central Missouri College on Saturday, November 9 in Trenton, MO.

Head coach Addae Houston said, “We did a great job of executing the offense getting the shots we wanted and playing very aggressive on the defensive end to get stops and create turnovers.”

The Spartans held the lead in the first half going into the locker room with a 31-28 lead. Morgan Knorr led the way for the team with 11 first half points.

“The second half was the difference once again, giving up 41 second half points.  As a team we have to learn to play a 40 minute game. Right now we are a decent first half team. We aren’t playing to the level we are capable of in the second half, more so on the defensive end. We have to learn that defense will win us games because I felt comfortable with our offensive execution, however the shots were not going in and that we will happen sometimes, but we can always stay strong on defense.”

In the end, the Spartans fell short, 69-58. The Spartans have one more road game on Thursday, November 14 against Grand View JV before their weekend home opener.
