The Spartan women’s basketball team knew they would have a tough time hosting the eighth ranked Highland CC. The Spartans struggled with keeping possession of the ball against the strong defensive pressure of the Scotties and lost the game 42-93.

Head coach Addae Houston said, "Highland was a very tough match-up for us. They are a very fast and athletic and Coach Smith does a great job of getting his team to pressure the ball and force turnovers. We did not handle their press well for the majority of the game and they forced us to turn the ball over way too much which lead to easy baskets for them. Despite the score we never quit and kept fighting for the entire game. I was really proud of the way Rhecie Lee has continued to play well for us off the bench because she brings a ton of energy into the game and is really active on the defensive end. Lee finished the game with eight points, four steals, and three rebounds. Sometimes a loss like this against such a good opponent can be good for your team because it gives you an idea of how your players and team need to improve."

The Spartans will play next Monday, November 18 at 5:30 p.m., when they will host Graceland JV.

Jordan Williamson - 12 points 3 assist

Morgan Knorr - 8 points 2 steals

Darian Polson - 8 points 3 blocks
