Creston, IA—Fort Madison basketball standout LaStella Slack, a 5’10” post player, has made the decision to head to Southwestern Community College (SWCC) and play for the Spartans’ second-year women’s basketball coach Addae Houston.
Slack, who is a May 2014 graduate of Fort Madison High School, was a second team Southeastern All-Conference selection, as well as a Southeastern Conference All-Star Team selection her senior year. She averaged 10 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Slack excelled academically as well, being selected as a member of the National Honor Society and named to the Southeastern Conference All-Academic Team.
Houston is confident Slack’s athletic and academic abilities will make her a strong student-athlete at SWCC. “LaStella is an outstanding player—a strong rebounder, and an all-around athlete,” Houston explained. “She is going to add depth to the post position for us and that is an area where we lacked last season.”
Slack, the daughter of Danny and Brenda Slack of Fort Madison, said she is excited for the opportunity to play basketball at Southwestern.
