Jared Theis and Shelby Williams paced Southwestern in their first golf meet of the Spring, held at Mozingo Golf Club in Maryville, MO Friday and Saturday.  The meet featured primarily four-year institutions, so the Spartans were looking to gain experience on a challenging course against top-notched competition.  Riding an eagle in round one, Theis carded an 88, which was the best men’s submission for Southwestern.  After a tough first day, Williams also brought home a solid round of 88 in day two of the event.  Most of the Spartan men and women improved from day one to two, which was the progress for which the team was hoping.  Southwestern will next play Tuesday in Oskaloosa.  They will again see a large field of four-year schools, trying to get ready for conference competition.
