The Wartburg College JV gave the ninth ranked Spartans a scare on the road Monday, December 15 with a final score of 73-70.  Jaylon Smith carried the load offensively with 28 points while Simon Joseph added 10 points.  Wartburg used eight first half three pointers to keep it close at 41-32 heading into the break.  They hit five more in the second half and got the rim much more than in the first half.  “They (Wartburg) played very well and did a lot of things to bother us on both ends.  We need to continue to improve and I think tonight opened everyone’s eyes to that,” commented Coach Todd Lorensen.
