Creston, IA—Colfax-Mingo infielder Sydnie Fahrney made it official last week, she will be joining Head Coach Lindsay Stumpff and the Southwestern Community College Spartans for the 2014-15 softball season.

Fahrney received a wealth of athletic honors during high school.  She was named first team all-conference softball her junior and senior years and was named second team all-conference her sophomore year.  She was a five-year varsity letter winner in softball.  In basketball, she was named honorable mention all-conference her senior year and was a varsity letter winner all four years.  In volleyball, she was named honorable mention all-conference her junior and senior years.  In track, she was a two-year varsity letter winner.  Fahrney received the outstanding female athlete award for four years and was the recipient of the Kathy Baerenwald Berg Memorial Award for Outstanding Female Athlete.

“I chose Southwestern because I was really interested in playing softball and I liked the small campus,” Fahrney stated.  “It’s more cost effective than a university, so I will finish my two years and then transfer.  I have also known other people who attended SWCC and liked it a lot.”

Fahrney is the daughter of Dannette and Eric Fahrney of Colfax.
