Gabryelle DuBois

Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Head Coach Lindsay Stumpff said she was in the right place at the right time to land a strong, quick, and agile player who, in Stumpff’s words, “was definitely overlooked” while finishing up her high school career.”

Gabryelle DuBois, a May 2014 graduate of Carlisle High School, will join the Spartan softball team this fall. She comes to SWCC after four straight state softball appearances with the Carlisle Wildcats. She was named to the 2014 State Softball All-Tournament Team.

Stumpff said DuBois will be a great addition to her squad and will bring much needed speed to make things happen on the base path.

Christiansen Malory

Malory Christiansen, former Tri-Center Neola pitching standout, recently made the decision to transfer from Doane College in Crete, NE, to Southwestern Community College (SWCC) in Creston, for the fall 2014 semester bringing additional pitching experience to the Spartan team.

SWCC Head Coach Lindsay Stumpff is excited to have more power in her pitching department.

Fahrney Sydnie ForWeb

Creston, IA—Colfax-Mingo infielder Sydnie Fahrney made it official last week, she will be joining Head Coach Lindsay Stumpff and the Southwestern Community College Spartans for the 2014-15 softball season.  

Fahrney received a wealth of athletic honors during high school.  She was named first team all-conference softball her junior and senior years and was named second team all-conference her sophomore year.  She was a five-year varsity letter winner in softball.  In basketball, she was named honorable mention all-conference her senior year and was a varsity letter winner all four years.  In volleyball, she was named honorable mention all-conference her junior and senior years.  In track, she was a two-year varsity letter winner.  Fahrney received the outstanding female athlete award for four years and was the recipient of the Kathy Baerenwald Berg Memorial Award for Outstanding Female Athlete.

“I chose Southwestern because I was really interested in playing softball and I liked the small campus,” Fahrney stated.  “It’s more cost effective than a university, so I will finish my two years and then transfer.  I have also known other people who attended SWCC and liked it a lot.”

Fahrney is the daughter of Dannette and Eric Fahrney of Colfax.

Creston, IA—Last week, Southwestern Community College Head Softball Coach Lindsay Stumpff announced Brook Rychnovsky, recent Mount Ayr High School graduate, will be joining the Spartans softball program for the 2014-15 school year.

Rychnovsky comes in as a versatile player having been on the field at second base, shortstop, left field, and center field. During high school, Rychnovsky was a multi-sport athlete lettering in basketball, cross country, softball, track and volleyball. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Academic All-Conference, and second team all-conference in basketball. She has the eighth all-time best cross country time at Mt. Ayr High School. In addition, she was named the 2013-14 Mount Ayr High School homecoming queen.

She is the daughter of Mark and Tammy Rychnovsky of Diagonal.
