Creston, IA---Southwest Valley High School volleyball star Marie Palmer has signed on for the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Spartans volleyball team, starting with the 2015 season.
Palmer, a 6’2” hitter, was a unanimous first team all-conference selection in 2014 and 2013 for the Pride of Iowa Conference. In 2012, she was named to second team all-conference.
Palmer, who will be a 2015 graduate of Southwest Valley High School, is the daughter of Marv Palmer of Corning.
Southwestern Community College Head Volleyball Coach Ting Liu received word late last week freshman Carmen Subbert of Stanton was named first team All-Region XI-B, was an All-Region XI-B tournament selection, and was named second team all-conference.
Subbert, an outside hitter for the Spartans, had an outstanding run during her college volleyball debut, being named as the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference's (ICCAC) offensive athlete of the week three times during the 2014 season.
For the second week in a row and third time on the season, Spartan volleyball player Carmen Subbert of Stanton has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) offensive athlete of the week.
According to the ICCAC Web site, Subbert's performance during the week of October 13-19 included an average of 4.4 kills and 2.1 digs in 13 sets. Also, she had a hitting percentage of 36 percent and continues to lead the Spartans offensively as the team approaches the end of the season.
For the second time in recent weeks, Spartan volleyball player Carmen Subbert of Stanton has been named Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC) offensive athlete of the week.
According to the ICCAC Web site, Subbert's performance during the week of October 6-12 included an average of more than four kills per set over 17 sets. She added 2.25 digs in those sets as well. Overall on the week she had 68 kills and 38 digs. Her best game came against Southeast CC when she killed 22 balls on 45 percent hitting and made 11 digs.
