Head Coach Ting Liu
Liu began coaching for the Spartans in 2014. Previously, she studied at Emporia State University (ESU), earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business accounting and a Master of Science in Health, Physical Education and Recreation with a concentration in coaching.
Before coming to Southwestern, Liu was the assistant volleyball coach at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas. Prior to that, she was a graduate assistant to HPER department and the volleyball team while completing her master's studies at ESU. Liu has also coached club volleyball and assisted with camps at Emporia State, Hutchinson Community College, and the University of Missouri.
In addition to her volleyball coaching experience, Liu has significant playing experience in China and the United States. Liu was an NCAA Division II All- American setter first team in 2008 and third team in 2010 for Emporia State University. Liu was a four year starter for Hornets. She was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the year in 2008, Freshman of Year in 2007, and All-MIAA four seasons. By ending of her playing career, Liu became not only the Hornets’ record holder in assists, but the MIAA’s all-time leader as well. Before she came to the United States, Liu was a member of Beijing Women’s volleyball team from 2001-2005.
