Good news keeps rolling in for the 2013 Spartan volleyball team. After their fifth place finish at the national tournament this past November, one of their members entered into an elite class of players. Cassidy Yong, the 5'5" freshman setter from Bellevue, NE, was named to the 2013 NJCAA Division II Volleyball All-Americans Second Team.
Yong’s solid ball placement from the middle and quick tips at the net contributed to the Spartans making their first trip back to the national tournament in 13 years. She is the first Spartan volleyball player to reach the All-American teams since 2007. Congratulations to Yong for this honor and the whole team on a memorable season.
Coach Melissa Blessington and the Southwestern Spartans finished an amazing run today defeating Grand Rapids in three straight sets at the NJCAA DII Volleyball National Championships in Perrysburg, OH.
The Spartans end their season with a record of 37-10.
