The Spartans hosted the Ellsworth Panthers on Saturday, January 11, in their first home game of 2014. This back-and-forth matchup was a closely contested game throughout with Ellsworth heading into the locker room at the half up by seven, 30-23.

Head Coach Addae Houston said, “We are still struggling to play a complete game for forty minutes. We played well in spurts but that is not good enough in this conference to get wins. There are signs of improvement but we need to continue to get better.”

In the end, the Panthers pulled away with the 52-46 victory over the Spartans. Darian Polson led the scoring for the Spartans with 11 points. Polson also contributed four rebounds and two blocks. Jill Vanderhoof scored 10 points along with her four rebounds.

The Spartans will get a couple of days to practice before their next game on Wednesday, January 15, against Iowa Central CC in Fort Dodge.
