Player Name: Kristine Smith
High School: Webster City High School
Comments from Coach Gilcrist: Kristine comes to us from Ellsworth Community College. After a stellar high school career at Webster City, things did not work out for Kristine at Ellsworth. I am hopeful that SWCC and the tight-knit family of the basketball program will help make this year an experience she will always remember. With the ability to play anywhere on the floor, Kristine has the potential to really blossom in our up-tempo style of play. She can shoot, ball-handle, and guard…what more could I have asked for? Even though it will be her first year at Southwestern, pressure will be on Kristine to take on a leadership role right away.
Player Name: Jamee Miner
High School: Elkhorn (NE) High School
Comments from Coach Gilcrist: Jamee may be short in stature, but even in film you can see her tenacious style of play and fearless competitive attitude. Jamee came highly recommended by her high school coach and other coaches in the Omaha area. She played in a winning program at Elkhorn, and Coach Wragge is well known for producing college-ready basketball players every year! At the point guard position, we will look for Jamee to not only get us into our offense and guard the other team’s best players, but we will look for her to bring a winning tradition to SWCC.
Player Name: Hannah Sneed
High School: Council Bluffs St. Albert High School
Comments from Coach Gilcrist: Hannah is an athlete in the purest form of the word. She was one of the leaders at her high school on the basketball, soccer, and softball fields. While she excelled in all three and received recruiting interest in each of them, the Spartan athletic department is proud to say that she will be playing both basketball and softball at SWCC the next two years. On the hardwood, Hannah can play any of the three guard positions and has proven she can either score or distribute, depending on the need of the team.
Player Name: Brittany Clark
High School: Omaha South High School
Comments from Coach Gilcrist: Brittany is the younger sister of SWCC alum Cara Clark. Brittany exhibits all of the qualities we were looking for in this year’s recruiting class; she is a respectful young woman with a competitive drive to succeed in all that she does. Brittany will bolster the paint for us, but also provides a 15-18 foot game that should allow her to be very successful. She comes from an athletic family as her father was a Division I football player, so the sky may definitely be the limit.
