Art and Design Department
SWCC's art & design department offers a variety of art courses including studio courses such as painting, drawing, computer design, and ceramics; as well as fundamental arts courses like art appreciation and survey of art that may be applied as humanities credits toward the associate of arts degree.
The art & design department has implemented a 2+2 agreement with Northwest Missouri State University. Your studio courses may be transferred into Northwest's art education program and be used toward your four-year degree. View course outline.
Graphic Design Option
In addition, another option in SWCC's art & design department is working toward a two-year associate of applied science degree in graphic design. This degree includes specific studio arts courses, as well as courses in SWCC's business and technology department.
While a student at SWCC, you'll also want to check out and join the art club, which is another great way to become involved with the art & design department while attending Southwestern.

2+2 Agreement with Northwest Missouri State University
Beginning with the fall 2012 semester, SWCC art & design is now offering an art education transfer program with Northwest Missouri State University.
Under the 2+2 plan, advisors will help SWCC students select the right courses to receive an associate of arts degree in two years, that include 18 studio arts credits, at SWCC and successfully transfer to NWMSU, where they can earn a bachelor's degree in just two more years. Students will have an additional semester of student teaching after work is completed as a requirement to earn a Missouri teaching license.
In addition, 2+2 students enjoy dual enrollment with NWMSU through SWCC's Partnership Program. That means you will have access to NWMSU facilities and events.
