SWCC Networking Student Performs Well at National BPA Competition

June 25, 2009, CRESTON, IOWA--SWCC business systems networking student Evan Musfeldt placed second in the PC servicing and troubleshooting competition at the national Business Professionals of America Conference held in Dallas, TX, in June 2009.  Musfeldt, of Lacona, recently completed his first year at Southwestern.

Barb Brown, SWCC business instructor, was the sponsor for the trip.

Halo 3 Tournament

The competition will be open to all SWCC students and surrounding High School students. Each team will be composed of four players. Once we have all the teams signed up we will form a bracket. You will be given a certain time to show up and then hopefully begin your way to the championship. The top two college teams will be given the opportunity to represent SWCC at the Iowa Community College Halo3 tournament, which we will be hosting later in the spring. We will be looking for the best players so form your teams soon!

SWCC's Networking Students Place in National Contest

2009 Cyber Defense Students CompetitingCRESTON--A team of students from Southwestern Community College's computer club placed 12th nationally at the 2009 National Cyber Defense Competition held February 20-21 in Ames.  This was the second consecutive year SWCC students have participated in the event.  During the 2008 competition, the SWCC team placed 25th.

SWCC Networking Students Place in Statewide Competition

Spartan 1 Cyber Defense TeamA team of five SWCC business systems networking students placed third over the weekend in the Community College Cyber Defense Competition held at Iowa State University in Ames.

Team members included (L to R):  Elliot VeVerka, sophomore from Montezuma; Zach Feldhacker, sophomore from Creston; Joshua Bix, freshman from Hopkins, MO; Ray Chenoweth, sophomore from Afton; and Evan Musfeldt, freshman from Lacona.
