Creston, IA—First-year Southwestern Community College (SWCC) Head Women’s Basketball Coach Secrett Stubblefield has signed two athletes—Shalishia Johnson of Kansas City, MO, and ShaErica Mason of Madison, IL—for the 2010-11 basketball season.

Johnson attended Westport High School where she averaged 9.3 points and six rebounds per game.  She was named most valuable player of her team for two years, received a defensive award, and was named first team all district.

Stubblefield is excited about the length, athleticism, rebounding and versatility Johnson will bring to the guard position.  Johnson is 5 feet 8 inches tall.  “Shalishia’s calling card is defense,” Stubblefield stated.  “Her quick hands and feisty intensity on defense will create offense for our team.”

Mason attended Madison High School in Madison, IL.  She averaged eight points and eight rebounds per game.  Stubblefield is anxious to bring Mason’s 6 feet 2 inch build to the Spartan front court.  “Her ability to grab boards, and her presence alone, will anchor our defense,” Stubblefield explained.  “ShaErica will be a threat down low on the block, and she will also stretch the defense with her ability to shoot the ball at a distance.”
