Lisa Carstens

Hometown: Creston
Education:  AA Degree from Southwestern Community College; BS Degree in Public Relations with a minor in Commercial Agriculture from Northwest Missouri State University
Hobbies/Interests: My family - I love spending time with my husband and two little girls!  I enjoy traveling, camping and scrapbooking!
Favorite thing about SWCC: I really enjoy working with the student groups!  I lead the Student Ambassador program, as well as Student Senate.
Most often asked question:  How long is the waitlist for the nursing program?
Your answer to that question:  Southwestern conducts a review each year for the nursing program.  Even though there may be a waitlist to get into the LPN or RN programs, it starts fresh each year.  Therefore, SWCC doesn’t have such a thing as a “three-year” waitlist.

Meghan Cavanaugh

Hometown:  Storm Lake
Education:  University of Northern Iowa, BA in English Literature/Creative Writing *Go Panthers!*
Hobbies/Interests:  Working out, shopping, cooking, concerts, music of all kinds, road-trips.
Favorite thing about SWCC:  I love the sense of family that is provided here, both for our students and our staff. We really do have a SWCC family.
Most often asked question:  How big is SWCC?
Your answer to that question:  Big enough that you can make all kinds of new friends, but small enough that you can – and likely will – know everyone by name.

Most often asked question:  Will my credits transfer?
Your answer to that question:  Yes, we have articulation agreements with most colleges in Iowa and some surrounding states.  SWCC will help you complete your general education requirements that most university require of their freshman and sophomores……and the good news is, we can save you a lot of money in doing so.
