The college’s sixth annual SWCC Week will be held October 31-November 4, 2016!  Fun events are planned for SWCC students throughout the week.  See the complete agenda below to plan your week of fun!

Mon., October 31

  • Morning, SWCC Week schedules distributed
  • 5-8 p.m., Escape the Room ... Escape the Zombie, Instructional Center, rooms 145 and 155.  During this "zombifying" event, you'll be placed in a room with an "infected person."  You will be given 20 minutes to solve clues and figure out the cure before you are contaminated.  There will be a 10 minute break between each session to reset the room.  Need not pre-register for this event.  Good luck!  Event organizers:  Kelly Franklin and Stephen Jefferies

Tues., November 1

  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Red Cross Blood Drive, Instructional Center, room 180 - To make appointment, please call 641.782.1421 or log on to www.redcrossblood.org.  Event organizers:  Student ambassadors and Cait Maitlen
  • 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Cookie Decorating Contest @ the SWCC Shoppe, Student Center - Stop by the SWCC Shoppe to decorate a pumpkin-themed cookie and compete for prizes with your decorating talent.  Facebook voting will take place once the cookies are decorated.
  • 12-1 p.m., Politics Around the World, Library - Students from around the world will discuss politics from their countries.  Event organizers:  Multicultural Club and Andrea Rivera Rojas
  • 7 p.m., Men's Basketball vs. Graceland JV, Student Center gymnasium - Red, White, and Blue Night (Dress patriotically or dress like your favorite presidential candidate).  Dazzlers perform during halftime of men's game.

Wed., November 2

  • 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Fun Zone, Student Center gymnasium - Play games and win prizes.  Event organizers:  Terri Higgins and Cait Maitlen
  • 7 p.m. - Amazing Race, Starting place Student Center gymnasium - Partner up and get ready to complete the Amazing Race SWCC-style.  Register now!  Bonfire at Ag site after race.  Event organizer:  Tracey Evans

Thurs., November 3

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m., C4 Event (Community College Completion Challenge), Student Center.  During C4, students will sign a mass pledge to complete their associate degrees or certificates before leaving community college for transfer or to enter the job market.  Event organizers:  Phi Theta Kappa and Jody Nedley-Newcomb
  • 6:30 p.m., Women's Basketball vs. William Penn, Student Center gymnasium - ThrowbackThursday Night (Dress retro.  First 30 students get a free retro Spartan jersey).  Event organizer:  Addae Houston

Fri., November 4

  • 8:15-10:30 a.m., Freebie Friday, Instructional Center main hallway, food and games to end your SWCC Week.  Event organizer:  Bill Taylor.
