On March 8, 2016, Ron Cain, former Southwestern Community College math instructor, donated a da Vinci XYZ model 3-D printer to the college's math and physics department.  Wade Sick, math and physics instructor, accepted the donation on behalf of the college.

Sick said, “We have been looking to purchase a 3-D printer and this has turned out to be an example of good things happening to those who wait.”
The printer will become part of the physics laboratory and a method of enhancing STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) offerings at the college.
