To ensure Southwestern students hit the ground running, all high school students enrolling in courses for the first time on campus or online are required to complete our online orientation course. The purpose of orientation is to provide students with pertinent information regarding using Canvas as an online classroom or companion to your campus course, college expectations, college services, and student rights and responsibilities.
Online-Only Orientation
Using the login information received in your welcome letter, you will login to Canvas and set-up your multi-factor authentication. Once logged into the Canvas dashboard, you’ll scroll down to click into the New Student Orientation (24-25). You are welcome to click through and complete the activities as many times as you choose.
SWCC secondary programs will be visiting your high school at the start of the semester to provide any additional support.
Face-to-Face Orientation
Face-to-face orientations are especially helpful for students attending campus or SWCC center courses. Students attending campus for the first time during spring semester, can connect with the secondary programs department to arrange a meeting time to tour classroom space, log into the SWCCyou portal, sign-up for campus text messaging, and receive a SWCC photo ID. Students should plan to bring their welcome letters with login information. Please email Chelsie Miller,
