Eligible students can receive additional Pell grants for summer classes at Southwestern!
Here are the facts:
- Eligible students can now receive up to 150 percent of their federal Pell grant award for the year (see examples below)
- Students must be enrolled half-time (six or more credits) in a degree program to qualify
- High school grads can get a jump start on classes!
- Transfer students are eligible too!
Students must meet all other Pell eligibility requirements
Examples:
Student with 0 EFC (maximum Pell grant award)
Fall - Full-time (12 credits)=$2,960
Spring - Full-time (12 credits)=$2,960
Summer - Half-time (8 credits)=$1,480
Full-time Fall and Spring = $5920
Full-time Fall and Spring ($5920) + half-time summer ($1480) = $7400
Student with 3000 EFC ($2970 Pell grant award)
Spring Summer
Fall - Full-time (12 credits)=$1,485
Spring - Full-time (12 credits)=$1,485
Summer - Half-time (8 credits)=$743
Full-time Fall and Spring = $2970
Full-time Fall and Spring ($2970) + half-time summer ($743) = $3713
