Tutoring/Academic Support

Struggling with an assignment or with a class in general?  You have many options available:

Tutoring Services

SWCC offers free, individual or small group, academic tutoring for a variety of courses. Students are requested to call or stop in to make an appointment to see a tutor at a time most convenient for them.  Peer tutors provide the tutoring services to students and they are available at a range of times.

Tutoring is offered in the TRIO-Student Support Services department on the second floor of the Instructional Center.

Brainfuse

Each student enrolled in any course utilizing Canvas has access to online tutoring services through Brainfuse.  Students are allotted 15 hours of tutoring services for the academic year (August through July).  For detailed information, please visit the Student Resources page on the Iowa Community College Online Consortium website.

Success Center

The Success Center, located in rooms 212 and 214 of the Instructional Center, provides basic skill class sessions to help individuals reach their potential.  The staff is dedicated to working with students to help them obtain skills necessary for college and career success. The Success Center offers independent study courses for developmental education in basic skill areas. These are set up as sessions, which require at least 40 hours of instruction. In addition, the Success Center provides services for English language learners, individuals completing high school equivalency diplomas, and adult basic education participants.

Success Center hours are Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Monday and Thursday evenings from 5-8 p.m.  The Success Center is staffed by TBA and Miah Denton.
