Financial Aid

SWCC's financial aid office exists to provide current and future students with information about the resources available to fund their education at Southwestern Community College and to assist them with the process of applying for and receiving state and federal aid.

There have been huge changes to the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the upcoming 2024-25 aid year! Southwestern’s financial aid team wants to help ensure you and your family have a full understanding of these changes and what you can do to prepare for completion of the 2024-25 FAFSA. Please check out SWCC's 2024-25 FAFSA Checklist to stay on top of these changes and learn the steps to apply for aid:

2024-25 SWCC FAFSA Checklist

The Department of Education’s simplification of the FAFSA form and delayed release of FAFSA data to colleges and universities has led to delays and difficulties for some of our incoming students. Colleges began receiving 2024-2025 FAFSA results beginning the first half of March 2024. Students will be able to make corrections to their FAFSA forms during the first half of April 2024. Due to this delay, we currently expect to begin sharing financial aid offers with incoming students in mid to late April 2024. This is dependent on receiving FAFSA data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Most scholarships awarded through our SWCC Education Foundation will be released to students as part of their financial aid offer.

Education Foundation Scholarship Application

Southwestern students are encouraged to search and apply for all resources available to help them with their educational expenses. Take time to explore the financial aid pages on SWCC's website, see links above to learn more. All of the materials located on the financial aid pages are made available at the financial aid office in paper copy as well. Every type of aid or source of funding has eligibility criteria that a student must meet before he or she can receive those funds. It is important students read and understand the conditions for which they can apply and receive aid.
