Southwestern Community College (SWCC) has signed and returned to the Department the Certification and Agreement and the assurance that SWCC has used the applicable amount of funds designated by the Supplemental Support under the American Rescue Plan (SSARP) program which provides Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

SWCC received $219,506 under the SSARP program. Under Absolute Priority 4, SWCC is required to prioritize 50 percent, or $109,753 for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students.

As of December 21, 2022, SWCC has awarded and disbursed a total of $110,156 of emergency financial aid grants to students under the SSARP program.
SWCC has awarded emergency financial aid grants to 822 students under the SSARP program.

SWCC awarded SSARP grants to students enrolled during the Fall 2022 semester. Each student was awarded $100 of SSARP funds. An additional award of up to $115 was disbursed to Pell-eligible students. The additional amount was calculated with the basis of federal Pell grant eligibility as one of the factors in an effort to prioritize grants to students with exceptional need.

Instructions, directions, and guidance was provided by the institution to students concerning the emergency financial aid grants. An email was provided to students informing them of their eligibility of the SSARP emergency financial aid grant for expenses incurred anytime during the national emergency. They were informed of the option to pay off an outstanding balance, sign up for direct deposit, or receive a paper check in the mail.

This is SWCC’s final quarterly posting and it covers all remaining HEERF fund expenditures for the SSARP program Student Portion of funds. There will be no more quarterly public reporting of Student Portion funds expenditures.
