Southwestern Community College ag students Grant Trucks of Winterset, Alyssa Birt of Corning, Riley Long of Shannon City, and Madilynn Marburger of Malvern.

Four Southwestern Community College (SWCC) agriculture students participated in the 2024 Iowa Professional Agricultural Student (PAS) spring conference, held Feb. 7-8, at the Honey Creek Resort in Moravia, placing in various categories and qualifying to compete at national PAS competition in March.

The following SWCC students placed at the statewide competition:

  • Alyssa Birt of Corning - Agriculture Education (individual competition), second place, qualifying for nationals
  • Madilynn Marburger of Malvern - Agricultural Promotion and Marketing (individual competition), fourth place, and Dairy Specialist (individual competition), third place, qualifying for nationals
  • College Agriculture Bowl (team competition) - Team of Birt; Riley Long of Shannon City; Marburger; and Grant Trucks of Winterset; second place, qualifying for nationals

The students were accompanied to state conference by Susannah Miller, SWCC agriculture instructor.

The 2024 National PAS Conference will be held in Springfield, IL, from March 11-14.
