SWCC will host its annual Community Awareness Day on Wednesday, Sept. 11, from 9-11 a.m. in the main hallway of the Instructional Center. A variety of community agencies will be on hand to provide information to SWCC students and staff about the services they provide.

Interested in joining the SWCC Drama Club? If so, plan to attend the first meeting (complete with pizza!) this Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m., in the Instructional Center, room 140.
Each year, the SWCC Drama Club presents a full-length play during the spring semester and a smaller play in the fall. The spring 2020 play will be “Love Letters,” with a March production date (prior to spring break).
This year, there is a new component to the SWCC Drama Club as well. The group will be doing monthly improv meetings and the club is hoping to attend a live showing of Whose Live is it Anyway at Hoyt Sherman in Des Moines on Nov. 23 (tickets are limited and must be ordered soon!).

CRESTON — The TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS) program at Southwestern Community College (SWCC) is hosting an ACT Boot Camp on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2019, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., in the college’s Instructional Center, room 180, to assist high school students in preparation for the ACT Test.

The Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees met electronically on Tues., August 13, 2019, at 8 a.m. in the president’s office in the college’s Administration Center.
The SWCC board approved the hiring of Jon Oswald of Murray as electrical technology instructor for the 2019-20 academic year. Oswald, who has a Journeyman Class A Electrical License, was most recently employed as an electrical maintenance technician at Wellman Dynamics Corporation in Creston. He has been at Wellman’s since 2010. Prior to that, he was an electrician for Capstone Contracting in Creston and Baker Electric in Des Moines.
