SWCC Week

The college’s 14th annual SWCC Week/Alcohol Awareness Week will be held October 21-25, 2024!  Fun FREE events are planned for SWCC students throughout the week.

2024 SWCC Week/Alcohol Awareness Week Schedule

Mon., October 21

  • Pajama Day – It's Monday, let's wear our pajamas.
  • 8:15 a.m.-gone - Grab a SWCC Week schedule and a snack on your way to class!
  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. - Caricature Drawings, Student Center
  • 7 p.m. – Movie Night, IC 180. Wear your pajamas and bring your blankets and pillows!

Tues., October 22

  • Patriotic Day – Represent your home country!
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Mocktails/Games & Prizes, Student Center upstairs. Come to the Student Center to enjoy a non-alcoholic beverage while learning the dangers of alcohol and drugs through some hands-on games and activities.

Wed., October 23

  • Wacky Sock Wednesday - The crazier, the better!
  • 9 a.m. until gone - Coffee on Campus with Adams Street Espresso, Student Center
  • 12-1 p.m. - Grocery Bingo, Student Center. Play bingo and win pantry and toiletry items! This event will feature alcohol awareness. 

Thurs., October 24

  • Decade Day - Dress as your favorite time period!
  • 7 p.m. - Tricky Treating- This event does require pre-registration: swcciowa.edu/tricky-treating Teams of four will compete at various stations on campus beginning at 7 p.m. During this event, your team will Tricky Treat across campus playing games, competing, and racing against other teams. The goal for the night will be to earn "letters" by successfully completing the games and challenges. By the end of the night, those letters will spell a word. Earning all the letters to successfully figure out and spell this word will give you a chance to win prizes! The first 48 students to register will receive a FREE SWCC shirt! 

Fri., October 25

  • Spirit Day – Wear your Spartan gear!
  • 9 a.m. until gone - FREE SWCC Cookies, IC main hallway
  • 9 a.m. - SWCC Craft, IC main hallway. Decorate wooden blocks with stickers!

  • Scavenger Hunt - Follow the clues and find your treat.

ALL WEEK ACTIVITIES!

  • Snapchat Filter – Look for the SWCC Week Snapchat filter. It will be up all week on campus and at the centers.
  • Giant Coloring Pages – Take a break from studying and color on the Giant Coloring Pages located in the Instructional Center, Student Center, Allied Health & Sciences Center, Technical Centers (This will be in Tech Center I and then moved to Tech Center II halfway through the week), Agricultural Sciences Center, Osceola Center, and Red Oak Center.
  • Dorm Wars – Students in each residence hall (commuters/West Hall as a team) compete for prizes. Get a token for participating during dress-up days during the week and then submit tokens at the Thursday event. The library will distribute the tokens for participation.
  • Alcohol Awareness Information Table - Instructional Center, table set-up outside of library.
