Associate of Science Degree in Accounting

Southwestern's accounting program is designed to provide the student with the fundamentals necessary to obtain entry-level positions for a career in the field of accounting. It can be a pre-CPA track that will be articulated to a four-year institution where students can obtain a bachelor's degree.

Small classes...hands-on training...experienced instructors! A strong general education core is available for those who want a four-year degree. Over 30 former accounting students have passed the CPA exam!

You will be prepared for entry-level jobs in private business, all levels of government and public accounting firms. In the current Iowa State Occupational Projections, bookkeeping, accounting and auditing assistants are near the top of the list as projected openings due not only to job growth but also to job replacement needs.

A working knowledge of accounting greatly improves employment opportunities in other fields such as computers, secretarial and management.
