SWCC Criminal Justice meets with a Texas Ranger

Evidence students in the SWCC Criminal Justice program met with Captain Wayne Matthews of the Texas Rangers over video conferencing on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.
The Texas Rangers, a division of the Texas Department of Public Safety, were created in 1823, and will celebrate 200 years of service for the citizens of Texas in 2023.
Criminal justice program virtually hosts guest speakers from across the US

During this time of social distancing, guest speakers may not physically be standing in a classroom of students, but with the technology offered through video conferencing, Dio Ayala, SWCC criminal justice instructor, is featuring speakers from across the nation. Today's guest speaker for Ayala's patrol procedures course was Jill Lees, the chief of police for the Indiana University Police Department.
Criminal justice students visit Des Moines metro locations

Students from Southwestern Community College's criminal justice program went on a work site visit to the Des Moines metro area.
First up, students visited the State of Iowa Supreme Court, where they were able to tour the court rooms including the Iowa Supreme Courtroom. A few students viewed a live hearing in the court appeals.
