2016 Administrative Specialist Certificate class with instructor

Southwestern Community College's adult and continuing education department held a reception on Wed., May 25, 2016, from 5-6 p.m., to honor the first three individuals to complete the college's new administrative specialist certificate training, which ran from January 25-May 25, 2016.  Individuals earning certificates for the program included Elisa Cole of Creston, Terri Juhl of Fontanelle, and Ashlie Robb of Creston.

The purpose of the certificate training is to learn essential skills needed to begin a career as an office assistant or administrative specialist.  It is offered as a hybrid training, consisting of 200 hours of classroom and online coursework.  The classroom portion met on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-9:30 p.m.  The main instructor for the 2016 program was Nichole Rinehart of Creston.

The administrative specialist certificate training will be offered again in January 2017.  This is a GAP Tuition Assistance approved training.  To apply for GAP Tuition Assistance, individuals may visit www.swcciowa.edu/GAP.
