Ken Rech, president of the Southwestern Community College (SWCC) board of trustees, was honored for 35 years of service to community colleges during an Awards Banquet at the Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) 2016 Conference at the Embassy Suites in Des Moines on Mon., February 22, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.

Jerry Smith, SWCC board of trustees member from Osceola and IACCT representative, presented the award to Rech during the IACCT Awards Banquet.  Rech, of Red Oak, has served as the District 5 representative on the college's board since 1980.  He was vice president of the board from 1999 to 2008.  Rech was elected as president of the SWCC board of trustees in 2008 and he continues to serve in that role today.

Rech, who retired from Red Oak’s Oakview Construction, has been an active leader in the Red Oak community for years, serving on the Red Oak Chamber and Industry Association; as well as playing an integral role in economic development activities.  He is a member of the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital board, where he currently serves as treasurer.
