Creston—Southwestern Community College (SWCC) announced January 19, 2016, Tia Samo of Lenox has been named as the college’s next chief financial officer. Samo replaces Randy Cook, who left the college in December.

Samo, who will begin employment at the college on February 22, has been employed as the city administrator for Lenox for the past year and a half.  Prior to that, she worked as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) associate for Draper, Snodgrass, Mikkelsen & Co., P.C. in Creston.  Before moving to the Lenox area, she was employed as a senior accountant for Alliant Energy in Cedar Rapids and as a senior auditor for Ernst & Young in Des Moines.

She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting with minors in management and Spanish from Simpson College in Indianola.

Samo, originally from Williamsburg, and her husband, Wade, have three children.
