Currently there are 24 employees eligible for early retirement. The policy has an April 1, 2017, application deadline for employees. Following Samo’s presentation, the board approved the proposed plan. The expiration date for this plan is June 30, 2017.

According to data presented by Kulow, there were 918 full-time students and 728 part-time students, a total of 1,646 students, attending SWCC during the fall 2016 semester. The average age of full-time students was 21.9, up from 20.7 last year.
MJ Dolan, Iowa Association of Community College Trustees (IACCT) executive director, briefed the board regarding the Future Ready Iowa initiative, which was created after Iowa received a National Governors Association grant to develop strategies to improve the educational and training attainment of Iowans and the alignment of those degrees and credentials with employer demand.
